Fernwood Cove, summer camp for girls, employs more than 100 staff each summer and we are pleased that our camper to staff ratio is high at 2 campers to 1 staff member. Our counselors and staff come from all over the United States and from many countries around the world such as Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, and Canada, just to name a few. The overseas staff adds to the diversity of our community. We are fortunate that many of our staff choose to return year after year.
We believe that having an excellent staff is the key to providing our campers with a wonderful summer experience. During our staff hiring process we look for staff who understand the responsibilities and importance of being a camp counselor and will be good role models for all our campers. All staff are selected for their specific teaching skills, enthusiasm, warmth, patience and love of children. Each staff member plays an integral role in forming the close community that is so special at Fernwood Cove. |
| All hired staff members attend our 7-day pre-camp staff orientation and training. This valuable week is full of training sessions which prepare the staff for what camp will be like, what is expected, our traditions, our songs, policies and procedures as well as preparing them for different aspects of today’s girls. By the time the week is over the staff are excited, unified and are eagerly awaiting for the arrival of the campers to start the summer experience! | |
