Fernwood Cove, girls summer camp, is located on 220 wooded acres including 60 open acres of sports fields and meadows fronting on a sparkling lake, perfect for all our water activities . Twelve miles of bike/horseback riding trails wind through our woods. With the shoreline property and “lean to”, we have overnights for our younger campers right on our property. Benefiting from a well-planned layout established by Camp Chickawah in 1920, Fernwood Cove has refurbished the bunks and historic buildings and added many new ones.
Fernwood Cove’s summer home for campers is one of 21 spacious cabins, all close to each other. None of the camper cabins have electricity. Some of the bunks have a bathroom and sink room, while others have a beautiful view of the waterfront and share a bathhouse not far from the bunks. All buildings at Fernwood Cove have been given bird names.
Our summer camp Health Care Center (the Nightingale), the main lodge (the Chick), the dining hall (the Feeder) as well as four large shower facilities (the Rubber Duck, the American Dipper, the Birdbath and the Lagoon) are minutes from the cabins, and laundry is done weekly for all campers and staff. The beautiful dining hall provides family-style meals, including a breakfast bar of fruit, granola and yogurt at breakfast time and a salad bar at lunch and some dinners.
